Note by Robert Steele: “This book belonged to William Morris and was retained at Kelmscott after his death until it was sold on the dispersal of the effects of May Morris on June 22 1939 (lot 62 Hodgson’s sale). William Morris had no book label. The one found in some of his books was printed for the purchasers of his library at Kelmscott House, Hammersmith after his death. Robert Steele.”
