¶ Catalogue of the India Museum

May 17, 2017

Comments Off on ¶ Catalogue of the India Museum

“Catalogue of the India Museum. South Kensington Museums.”

This is how the entry is phrased in the MS catalogue (2) (see below), but the identity of the book is not clear, because the South Kensington Museum (now the Victoria and Albert) issued a number of catalogues relating to the India Museum (at least two of which Morris owned). The most likely title is probably India Museum: inventory of the collection of examples of Indian art and manufactures transferred to the South Kensington Museum (London: printed by Eyre and Spottiswoode for H.M. Stationery Office, 1880).

Provenance: Morris. — Unlocated.

Reference: MS catalogue (2), no. 555.
